General:
Evergreen perennial in clumps from a short compact rhizome.
Leaves:
Broadly lanceolate, 5-25 cm long, clustered, hairy with branched hairs and whitish scales, 3-pinnate; ultimate segments round, 0.5-3 mm long, with densely orange-woolly branched hairs and small scales on the lower surface.

Habitat / Range

Dry rocks and rock crevices in the lowland, steppe and montane zones; rare in extreme S BC; S to MT, UT, NV and CA.
